The 17 little frustrations of using a Leap Card

*jolts awake in the middle of the night* “I FORGOT TO TOP UP MY LEAP!”

1. The complete lie that is topping up ‘online’

2. No really, you can put money on it but you have to go to a shop to ‘activate it’. Gerrup out of that

3. No Leap top-up app for iPhone, smug Android feckers

4. Remembering you needed to top up while lying in bed, trying to sleep, with an early morning bus journey ahead of you

5. Not being sure if you’re in negative credit or not, so just tapping and hoping for the best

6. Hearing the beep that announces negative credit, and hoping the driver just doesn’t notice

7. People with no Leap Cards blocking the Leap Card reader queue on the bus

8. The cold fear when you can’t remember if you tagged on or not and the ticket inspectors are advancing

9. The living nightmare of trying to top up at a Luas stop but the Luas is approaching and you’re still hammering the unresponsive screen trying to select your desired top-up amount

10. The scrum to tag off at busy Luas stops

11. Tall people reaching over smaller people to tag off in the scrum at busy Luas stops *shakes fist*

12. Accidentally waltzing right by the Leap Card machine without tagging off, thus charging yourself a pretty penny for a three-stop trip

13. The absolute panic of trying to scan your Leap card, be it on the bus or at the Luas stop, with the scrum baying for blood behind you…

14. …Then realising you were actually scanning your bank card, because you’re a dope

15. For students: Having to deal with a terrible picture on your student Leap Card for a whole year

16. Forgetting to top up your Leap. Then forgetting again. And forgetting again, because effort of going all the way to the shop

17. Losing a Leap that you just topped up. The HORROR
